Pain-Free Circumcisions — Tampa Bay Area

Studies have shown that infants react more severely to future pain when the pain of circumcision is not controlled. Please do not let anyone do this procedure on your newborn son without excellent pain control! Unfortunately, this is not the standard that is employed today. Babies can feel pain and will remember it.

The best control of pain—and the method I use—can be achieved by a nerve block and topical anesthesia. Many doctors do not have the expertise or don't want to spend the extra time it takes to do a proper block. Many of the babies that I circumcise sleep through the entire procedure without feeling pain.

About Dr. Andrew Gellady, M.D.
Andy's picture   Dr. Gellady graduated with honors from New York Medical College. He holds a dual board certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Disease. He is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida and a member of the American Board of Pediatrics.

A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Gellady was one of the first Board Certified Pediatricians in Pasco County and was a founding Medical Director of the Pasco County Child Protection Team. He has been in practice for more than 30 years.

Andrew is a life long fitness fanatic. He has run in the New York City and Boston Marathons. He in-line skates about thirty miles a week. Dr. Gellady is very excited about our new childhood fitness and nutrition program.

He currently resides in Palm Harbor with his wife and enjoys spending time with his three daughters and eight grandchildren.
